This checklist will help you navigate the required steps you need to do in order to graduate from UNBC.
1. Confirm Degree and Requirements
Use the Degree Evaluation Tool within Student Online Services to confirm that the current curriculum appearing for you is the program you intend to graduate with. If the curriculum appears incorrect (example: missing a minor), please submit the appropriate declaration form found at: www.mytalkbd.com/registrar/forms. If you have any questions about your degree requirements, please see Student Advising.
This step is not required.
2. Apply to Graduate
The Application to Graduate is mandatory for processing all graduation requests, and must be done by the deadline. A non-refundable, non-transferable processing fee will accompany each application. If you are graduating with multiple credentials (e.g. a degree and a certificate) you will need to apply for each separately. The online application for graduation is now open.

We need you to complete or re-submit the RSVP form?by April 30, even if you have already completed it,?as there is important information that we have to capture (i.e. mailing address).
If you have trouble logging into the form, please contact the Convocation Office firstname.lastname@example.org?or call 250-960-6304.
Instructions for ALL students:
- Log into?MyUNBC.ca?and find the link to the ConvocationRSVP Form, on the right hand side under "Applications."
- Click on the "Fill Convocation RSVP Form."
- Select "will not" - Please choose this option even if you plan on participating in the virtual ceremony.
- Select "I would like to have my parchment couriered to me." - Disregard the reminder about paying a courier fee.?Due to the circumstances with the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) the Office of the Registrar is working out a plan to distribute parchments.?
- Update your mailing address to where you can receive the parchment in June. (Cannot just be a PO Box.)
- Provide an alternative email (optional).
- Vote for Class Song using the drop down box.
- Read the Privacy & Consent section.
- Click that you consent and have understood the instructions.
- Click the "Submit" button.
In order to make sure that we pronounce each graduate's name as correctly as possible, if your name is frequently mispronounced, we request that you call our phonetics line at 250-960-6336 to record the proper pronunciation of your name. Instructions are provided when you call.

4. Order Convocation Regalia?
Graduands may choose to rent black gowns or specific graduate level regalia, as well as the appropriate hoods for their degree, which can be used in the videos uploaded for the virtual ceremony. These items are rented or purchased through the UNBC Bookstore, online only. Please visit?bookstore.unbc.ca?for more information or click the link below.
Tassels and mortarboard may be purchased as keepsakes, as well as parchment frames and alumni swag.??
5. Ensure Fees are Paid
You will not receive your parchment until you pay all outstanding fees. Not all fees show up on your Student Services account, so please contact the Cashier's Office to confirm status: email@example.com or call 250-960-6531.
6. Check UNBC email
In order to ensure privacy, all email communications related to your official degree audit and Convocation are sent to your UNBC student email account. If you cannot access this account, your password may need to be changed.
In accordance with the British Columbia’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, UNBC publically discloses the names, hometowns, and credentials of graduates during Convocation, celebrations, ceremonies, and related events. Graduates may also be recorded or photographed during these events, or provide their own personal content to include at these events. By using this service, you are consenting to any of your recordings or photographs take during Convocation to be used for promotional purposes and can be disclosed in full anytime a request is made in the future.
If you have any issues with being published in the program, or participating in the virtual ceremony, you can apply for an exemption. Please contact the Convocation Office for further inquiry: firstname.lastname@example.org?Please note responses may be delayed since the Convocation Office is working remotely.

Note: maintaining access to UNBC email is your responsibility; external preferred emails will not be used for graduation purposes.
If you applied to graduate, various emails will be sent in the Winter semester. If you are not receiving any information about graduation or Convocation please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com to let us know.
7. Prepare for Convocation Day
Family and friends
Don't leave them in the dark! Give them all the information they need to help celebrate your amazing accomplishment. Encourage them to use #UNBCgrad2020 when sending shout outs and congratulations messages so the Class of 2020 can stay connected during this time. Please also direct them to the StageClip website for the virtual ceremony (TBD).
An electronic version of the program will be available on the website for the virtual ceremony.
Make sure to share your content with StageClip, as well as on social media. Please read all the communications and use the website as reference to get the information you need, especially given the circumstances. We are certainly here to answer any questions you have, but a lot of information is easily found if you prepare.
8. Celebrate Your Day!
UNBC's virtual ceremony is something special and positive amidst a trying time, and in some ways will be more personal in nature than the traditional ceremony.?Globally, the Class of 2020 will experience one of the most unique and challenging Convocation and Commencement seasons ever but we are are happy to be a part of your momentous accomplishment as you move into the next phase of your life.
